Happy new connexional year to you all and a big welcome to LMC, a place of welcome and fellowship.
The very first bible verse reads, “in the beginning God…” (Gen 1:1a) and so as we begin this new year, let us start with God and end it with God. I pray for school children and the University students who have started their new year this month. May God be with them in their studies. I also want to pray for those who have started a new job and those who are retiring. May God guide you in your new adventures.
This year our theme as church is Seeking Justice. May we, “learn to do right, seek justice and defend the oppressed. You are all invited to the welcome service of our new ministers at Solihull Methodist Church 6pm. Teas and coffee will be saved from 5pm.
I want to ask you to read the following prayer written by our Connexional President:
Holy God,
We thank you that we begin our journey
through this next connexional year.
We know you are present with us
and will bless us generously and graciously
We seek to learn to do what is right,
to seek justice and challenge oppression.
May we listen carefully before we speak, be courageous
in our loving, and faithful in living holy lives worthy of our calling
God our past, our present and our future hope,
may we be your good news.
Amen
The Revd Helen Cameron, President of the Methodist Conference, has written this prayer for the New Connexional Year.
